Album: Perlan - The Pearl

Sitting on a hilltop overlooking Reykjavik is Perlan, The Pearl. The outer cylinders house 4 million litres of geothermally heated water , piped to houses throughout the city. They support a viewing gallery and inside is a large exhibition space, cafeteria and a posh (read expensive) rotating restaurant.

Album: The Blue Lagoon.

Probably the most famous destination in Iceland. Originally created by accident when the overflow from a geothermal power plant was poured out into the lava field. A lagoon formed, rich in silica and algae which was found to be pleasant to bathe in. The current manifestation is much posher, but still manages to remain sympathetic to nature.
